As has been mentioned previously on Crunch Time, I’m currently enrolled in Intro To Unreal at Gnomon, which is taught by Waylon Brinck, the CG Supervisor at EA Los Angeles.  Above are the fruits of my labor after Week 2, which shows the UT Level’s BSP laid out, textures applied, AI paths set and weapon spawns configured.  There still a lot of work to go, but I’ve got 8 weeks more to learn the tips and tricks of the editor.  I’ll post a playthrough each week to show how its progressing, and in the end, release the level for all to play!  Once I learn how to build and bug-test the level I might release a “beta test” and take your feedback (you’ll need Unreal Tournament 3 to play).

After braving the long night, I finally survived the Inauguration, with all toes and fingers intact I might add!  Words cannot describe the cold, we ended up breaking down, grabbing some cardboard boxes and creating a makeshift heat retainer, which only worked so well.  Unfortunately, my Flip camera died right before Obama took the oath, but I got a few pictures on my iPhone to make up for it.  I can’t say I would do it again, but it certainly was history.  We ended up having to walk out of the city (against the masses that were behind us during the inauguration, trying to make it to two metro stops which were closed), across the 14th Street bridge, all the way to Reagan National.

Words cannot express my love for 24.  It’s absence due to the writing strike was a critical blow to my TV consumption last year (resulting to almost entirely watching CNN and South Park live, and everything else on Hulu).  This new season kicked off with a bang over these last two days, with Jack  getting back to action in one of the most explosive 4 hour intros yet!  I have extremely high hopes for this season  (they have had the time to get things right)!  I feel like doing a spoiler ridden live blog for every episode from here on out…24 Viewing + Rock Band 2 parties at my place every Monday this season!*

*No you can’t come.

Start what will certainly become your addiction by playing the first episode of the new season below, and watch the rest here!

Whew! So it’s been an incredibly busy past few weeks! First I was chosen to do Fred Wilson’s fantastic Web 2.0 Keynote “The New York Internet Industry–From 1995-2008.” That opened the door for me in a lot of ways, so I’m eternally grateful to fred for seeing something special in my work and ambitions.

I would love to share some of the projects I’m working on now, but some of them are time sensitive, so mum’s the word! Read the rest of this entry »
